Just had an amazing one night stay at Yamagaya! The staff and management is incredibly kind, accommodating, helpful, and cheerful. The dinner and breakfast were delicious - a lot of variety within both meals of flavors and options. The public onsens were terrific. We loved the Sakura room. They include body wash, shampoo, conditioner, face wash, shower caps, razors, hair dryers. The water in the b...

I would stay again. Was sorry I booked only 1 night. Greta views from the room into the valley, the lady from Myanmar was extremely caring and welcoming. I enjoyed the onsen as well.

Yamadaya is a traditional Japanese ryokan-style hotel nestled in the mountains of Hakone, close to the volcanic Owakudani area. Highly recommend for the authentic Ryokan experience. It has an authenticity to it that the fancier places don't. Meals were delicious! Staff and service were amazing. Onsen were great with some fantastic views. Definitely a must if staying overnight in Hakone area.

We had the loveliest night here, and the service was fantastic. We found the main lady who looked after us to be wonderful, fun, friendly and very caring. The inn may be a bit older but it was cosy and comfortable. It could use perhaps a little renovation, but won't stop us from staying again when we return!

Take the Odakyu Romancecar from Shinjuku Station to Hakone-Yumoto, then the Hakone Tozan train to Gora Station. From there, call the hotel for the free shuttle or walk about 10 minutes uphill to the ryokan.
