Hyatt Regency Hakone Resort and Spa (solo trip)

I used my suit upgrade and chose tatami room. The room was spacious and well equipped but the view is completely blocked. And onsen is old and not well maintained. It has only one big bath not rotenburo nor sauna. Overall the facility doesn't have much places to enjoy such a garden, gym, ...but the shuttle service is pretty good. Breakfast is very good, too.

Comfortable large room with a very comfortable mattress! The common areas are also very comfortable. The staff were all very nice and helpful. The free shuttle was a nice surprise and allowed us to easily get to a restaurant for dinner. The kaiseki dinner we had at the hotel was fabulous though and I highly recommend checking it out. One of the best Hyatts I’ve stayed at!

I recently stayed at this hotel with family and, unfortunately, the experience did not meet the standards expected from a 4-star property. The sushi served at lobby at around 9:30pm was not fresh. While it wasn’t spoiled, it clearly wasn’t newly prepared, which is unacceptable for a hotel of this level. Not as good as Hyatt Regency Yokohama but better than Hyatt Regency Tokyo Bay. This means it’s a solid but not spectacular choice. Reasons to stay here: they have free on-demand shuttle service to/from (1) Gora Station, (2) Souzan Station, (3) open-air museum.
