What makes it 60% Kids-Friendly: Children aged 3-12 may enter the baths with parents and play table tennis, but there are no slides, lifeguards, or kids’ rooms, and fees add up, so the spot is moderately family-friendly.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Allows time for onsen, lunch, and a quick game or shrine stroll without rushing kids.
Soak in open-air baths:
Enjoy natural hot springs overlooking Lake Ashi and Mt. Fuji.
Tip: Pick up towels at the front desk before entering; children 3+ pay a small fee.
Lakeside lunch:
Order from the Ryu Palace menu at the restaurant by the lake.
Tip: Try the children’s set meal; ask for a window seat to enjoy the view.
Table tennis match:
Play 30 minutes in the party room with the whole family.
Tip: Reserve your table when you arrive to guarantee a slot.
Stroll to Yama no Kami shrine:
Walk the lakeshore path to the mountain guardian shrine.
Tip: Bring a camera for family photos; the trail is flat and child-friendly.

Expensive for an osen, but for the views of the lake, it's a worth one off expense. 3,000 yen for adults and a towel will set you back another 600 yen.

There is both an indoor and an outdoor pool, as well as plenty of showers to use before entering the baths. The outdoo...

Never thought I’d do an onsen but my missus was going and the masseuse was booked (meaning I couldn’t do a massage at the same time) so I did an onsen instead. For the benefit of others that don’t know what they’re doing: 1. You can hire towels for ¥600 as at Nov 2025. 2. You strip off naked at your locker and only bring the small towel. 3. Okay experience but not really worth the price. No finish sauna for the women and the men’s sauna was a bit smelly due to the Japanese way of putting towels in the sauna. View on the lake was quite nice though. The missing resting area within the Onsen makes you wanna leave after 1.5h.
On clear winter mornings you can see Mt. Fuji sharply. In autumn, the forest around Lake Ashi turns bright red and orange.
