What makes it 53% Kids-Friendly: Kids can stretch, eat ice cream, use accessible toilets and craft nearby, but no playground or interactive exhibits means energy burners are scarce, so it works only as a short refresh stop.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: This time lets your family enjoy the view, grab snacks, and rest without tiring the kids.
View Lake Ashi and mountains:
Climb to the observation deck for a clear view of Lake Ashi and nearby peaks.
Tip: Go on clear mornings for best visibility; bring simple binoculars for kids.
Share a soft-serve ice cream:
Order the station’s signature soft-serve (¥400) or kamaboko stick (¥400).
Tip: Ask for a kiddie cone to share; keep wipes handy for sticky hands.
Enjoy a quick soba meal:
Try Hakone Toge soba noodles (¥550+) with tempura or a mini curry rice (¥600).
Tip: Order extra broth so kids can sip; choose a window seat for views while you eat.
Browse local souvenirs:
Explore Hakone vegetables, drip-coffee bags and limited Evangelion goods in the shop.
Tip: Let each child pick a small item like postcards or snacks under ¥500.
Collect the Michi-no-Eki stamp:
Stamp your travel book with the station’s unique seal in the info area.
Tip: Bring your own notebook; let each child decorate a page for memories.

Indoor seating open at night: yes Trash can: yes, behind the building Coffee vending machine: yes in the common room Light at night: parking space is lit up from one side, so minimal lighting. N...

Pretty good rest stop to spend the night. All the bathroom facilities are available and there is a 24 hour 'reading room'. However you can't really see mount fuji from here.

Beautiful and clean place to park a car and take a rest. The view from here is nice, too.

I was traveling in a camper van and used several such roadside stations during my trip. I spent the night in my van here which was really convenient and refreshing. Along with clean restrooms and an awesome ice cream vending machine there's an electric van charging station as well. All in all, great roadside station at a convenient and scenic location.
Visit on clear mornings from October to February to spot Mount Fuji. In autumn, enjoy red foliage around the deck. In winter, bring warm jackets for the outdoor area.
