56%Baby-Friendly
View Map

What makes it 56% Baby-Friendly: Strollers fit main paths and benches give feeding pauses, but there are no diaper tables, nursing rooms, or infant-safe baths, so parents must improvise care and may shorten the stay.

Positives:

  • Easy stroller access: Level paths from the park entrance to tea house make navigation smooth.
  • Riverside seating: Benches and deck areas provide quiet spots for resting or feeding.

Challenges:

  • No baby-care rooms: Park restrooms lack changing tables or nursing cubicles; use nearby Tourist Info Center.
  • Gravel patches: Loose gravel on some trails can slow stroller wheels.

A great place to wander around - the waterfall and 'rapids' are pleasant, and there's an easy walk. There are seats at various points where people were relaxing, reading books or snoozing within sight and sound of the water. The signs warning of bears and wild boar were somewhat alarming, but I assume that spotting one of either is rare (there were many oeople wandering around without a care). The...

Enjoyed the short riverwalk in the park. There was a lot of shade that proved helpful in tolerating the summer heat. Numerous small waterfalls along the river. Didn't see any monkeys or wild boars even though there were warning signs. Enjoyed some espresso, a sandwich, and juice at the park cafe. Food was better than average and reasonable in price. Would definitely come back.

Glorious park full of bamboo, ginkgo, kaseki elms accompanied by bubbling river. There’s a footpath and places to eat and drink and - randomly - free WiFi through. Hence the review! Very lovely

Footspas were pretty good and the scenery walking through the park along the river is quite beautiful. Downside is the horrible plastic sandals you have to wear to use the spas, other than that the variety of spas with different tiles to stimulate, sooth or punish your feet in each of the seven separate baths was excruciatingly pleasant. 😬

When is the best time to visit Man-yō Park (Hakone, Japan)?

Visit mid-June for free firefly viewing at dusk. In mid-November, enjoy red and gold maple leaves along the stream. Summer’s shade keeps the baby cool on hot days.
