What makes it 61% Kids-Friendly: Interactive data screens, trophy replicas, and a short action video can entertain children for about an hour, yet there are no play zones or child-height toilets on site.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: 2–3 hours lets families explore interactive exhibits, watch the highlight video, and enjoy a café break without rushing kids.
Episode Zone:
Touch replicas of the wooden trophy and read simple captions about famous races.
Tip: Encourage kids to spot their favorite photo and ask questions about each episode.
Museum Theatre:
Watch a 10-minute video of exciting Ekiden moments in a cozy mini-theater.
Tip: Arrive early to grab front seats with room for small legs.
Interactive Data Zone:
Tap through race maps, runner split times, and photos on touchscreen kiosks.
Tip: Challenge children to find the fastest runner or trace each relay stage.
EKIDEN CAFE “20 SPIRITS”:
Sample mini hot dogs, fruit juices, and matcha lattes while overlooking the lake finish area.
Tip: Ask for a high chair and request a window seat for the best view.
Museum Shop:
Browse keychains, sticker sets, and university logo goods.
Tip: Let each child pick a small souvenir under ¥1,000.

Probably interesting but Google translate is just too cumbersome for the amount of information. Also got told off for using camera which I needed to translate. Only Japanese info (also about entry fee, which I now believe to be free with Hakone pass after reading other reviews).

So wish they had english translations! Otherwise an interesting place to see for running fans. They had decent merchandise but it was only in one size.

Really cool exhibits and items, ie uniforms and trophies and videos about the races, but unfortunately all the information is only in Japanese. So, I would say foreigners could skip this unless you’re really into running. Although, entry is quite cheap especially with the free pass so is cool to see the exhibits.

All information is in japanese. No photo taking in the museum

I was surprised to find this, and looked forward to seeing it. all in Japanese, but anyone who's in the know about the race would find it interesting.
Autumn brings vibrant fall colors around the museum—pair your visit with a lakeside walk. In summer, the air-conditioned galleries offer a cool break. In spring, spot cherry blossoms near the entrance before you enter.
