Elementary-age children may enter, get seat cushions and use changing benches; musicals can be engaging, but no stroller rental, no child-minding, and 3-hour shows may test patience.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: A typical family show runs about 2 hours; allow time for intermission snacks and lobby exploration.
Book a family-friendly performance:
Choose a children’s play or musical that admits elementary-aged kids.
Tip: Use the official e-tix site to secure seats early and check age rules for your 12-year-old.
Try free opera glasses & blankets:
Borrow from Guest Services so kids can see the stage and stay warm.
Tip: Pick them up at the entrance before finding your seats.
Grab a kid-friendly bento at intermission:
Select boxed meals or simple snacks from the café to enjoy in the lounge.
Tip: Arrive early to buy popular bento boxes before they sell out.
Explore the lobby & Hakataza Lounge:
Let kids relax on lounge seating and snap photos under the chandelier.
Tip: Use the open lounge during breaks for snacks and quick rest.
Shop at the souvenir corner:
Browse postcards, programs, and small toys.
Tip: Set a small budget so each child can choose a keepsake.

This theater is amazing. You can watch Kabuki for a few months a year.Performing arts are beautiful and create good memories. The theater's facilities are excellent, with high-quality boxed lunches for sale and plenty of restrooms. I recommend purchasing lunch before it starts.During breaks, you can eat at your seat or in the rest area.

The theater itself was lovely, all of the vendors were nice, and the performance was absolutely amazing. Stunning attention to detail with the ability to entertain someone that knows only some of the language being used. The staff were very accommodating and kind and the bento was delicious!!

There isn't a bad seat in the house, acoustics are excellent and at intermissions, all sorts of booths selling tasty snacks, meals and drinks. I've been here for two musicals, 1879 and Marie Antoinette and been thrilled with the place both times. It's well located and easy to find.
