What makes it 81% Kids-Friendly: Free scavenger hunt routes and MUVE workshops engage ages 6–12, but 2+ hours of standing, echoing prison cells, and steep steps require breaks and close parental supervision.
Why 2–3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: A visit of this length lets families cover key highlights and include rest breaks for younger children.
Short Family Highlight Loop:
Follow a 60–75 minute route through the Courtyard, Golden Staircase, Great Council Chamber, Bridge of Sighs and prisons.
Tip: Pick up the free scavenger-hunt list at the entrance and let kids spot lions, mermaids and ceiling patterns.
MUVE App Audio Guide:
Download the free MUVE App on your smartphone to access an English audio tour.
Tip: Scan the QR code at the palace entry and use headphones for hands-free listening with children.
Baby Pit-stop Room:
Use the dedicated baby room for feeding and changing near the entrance courtyard.
Tip: Ask any staff member to show you to the baby pit-stop space for a quick rest.
Stroller-friendly Routes:
Bring a stroller and use lifts or ramped passages to navigate around main halls.
Tip: If you see stairs, ask staff for the nearest lift or alternative ramped route.
MUVE Education Workshop:
Older kids (8–14) can join a 2-hour ‘Understanding the Palace’ workshop to build a 3D model.
Tip: Book online at least one week before your visit; spaces fill up fast.

Great experience. Neat history and worth visiting. Many beautiful rooms and loved the history. The prison area was creepy and one could only imagine crossing the Bridge of Sighs back in the day.

Recommended to buy tickets in advance as it does get busy. Also wort...

An incredible historic experience. The Doge’s Palace brings Venice’s past to life through breathtaking art, massive ceremonial rooms, and a fascinating armory. You really feel the power and influence Venice once had across Europe and the Mediterranean. The contrast between the grand halls and the prison across the Bridge of Sighs makes the visit unforgettable. A must-see in Venice.

Doge’s Palace is an essential stop in Venice — a living testament to the grandeur and governance of the Venetian Republic. The sheer scale of the Great Council Hall was staggering, and its gilded ceiling, ablaze with symbolic figures, evoked the Republic’s wealth and ambition in that era. I was particularly impressed by two monumental works: 1) Paolo Veronese’s Apotheosis of Venice, and 2) Tintore...

Well worth paying entrance to go in and see the fabulous interior. Short line to get in on a Saturday in November, which moved quickly. We especially enjoyed the prison in the basement and learning about the courts and justice system during the Venetian era. Highly recommend this while visiting Venice.
In summer, arrive early to avoid heat and crowds. In winter, afternoons are quieter but some workshops may not run.
