Chiesa del Gesù, in Piazza del Gesù, is the mother church of the Jesuits and a template for Counter-Reformation design. Built from 1568 to plans by Vignola, with a later façade by Giacomo della Porta, it sets a single wide nave with side chapels and a short choir, keeping sightlines and acoustics focused on the high altar and preaching. Inside, 17th-century decoration transforms the space, especia...

Inside, the single wide nave and the rich decorations reflect the spirit of the Counter-Reformation. Don’t miss the stunning ceili...

I am not a religious person but I came here to visit the beautiful Chiesa del Gesu, it is absolutely awe inspiring and beautiful. I would recommend coming here respectfully and enjoying the splendour of this place. It must truly be a pleasure to worship here.

They provide such a unique 3D illusion that's supported by panel...

Beautiful church with incredibly art inside. Also contains relics from St. Francis Xavier. I recommend anyone into architecture and art go here. Shoulders and knees must be covered. Please respect the holy area.
