Lots of walking to get up to top. We were lucky to have had good weather. Didn't spend long there though and not a busy area

Right next to the Altare Della Patria (Altar of the Fatherland) is the Capitoline Hill. Outside, you’ll see a bronze statue of Marcus Aerelius. The Capitoline Hill is one of the seven hills of Rome. It’s worth climbing to the top of the hill via Michelangelo’s steps and admiring the Roman Forum for free.

This is a must visit if you are into history. You need tickets for the museum but not for the square. It is a bit of a walk with stunning views . There is a water fountain to refill your bottle towards the top of the hill.

One of the magnificent squares in Rome. I definitely think you should go on the road and take a tour of the square. However, for those who will stay in Rome for 2-3 nights, it would be better to be careful to spend more time. Since it is close to the Colosseum, it would be logical to stop by on the road after visiting there.

It's a short walk up the sloping stairs of the Capitoline Hills to reach the square designed by Michelangelo. Has the Capitoline museums, the Aurelius statue, Rome city hall and a view over the ruins like arch of Septimius, Basilica of Julia etc
Spring and autumn bring mild weather and smaller crowds. Avoid midday in summer when temperatures peak. In winter, bring a jacket for the breezy terrace.
