An amazing museum with vast amount of art to view and contemplate and ponder. Well worth the few hours you will spend

Fabulous museum in grand Empire building that used to be the residence of the Viceroy of Italy under Napoleon and later the Habsburgs. "Modern" here mostly means 19th century (the third floor was closed for renovation), including large collections of works by Giovanni Segantini (1858-1899) and Medardo Rosso (1858-1928). Beautiful museum in the historic Villa Reale. Amazing 19th-century and early 20th-century Italian art, with masterpieces by Hayez, Segantini and Pellizza da Volpedo. Calm atmosphere, not too crowded, perfect for enjoying art slowly.
