This was both a medieval defensive tower and part of Florence’s former mint complex. Built in the early 14th century in a transitional Gothic–Romanesque style, it guarded the eastern end of the city’s old walls. The name Zecca means 'mint' in Italian, referring to the nearby Zecca Fiorentina, where the city’s famous gold coin, the fiorino d’oro, was produced.

Breathtaking. A beautiful bride was getting her wedding photos taken here and she looked absolutely stunning. It's easy to get seperated from your group and get lost if you aren't familiar with the location. Very busy location, but I still recommend going. You won't regret it.
