What makes it 70% Kids-Friendly: The venue programmes shortened children's operas and Sunday family concerts and offers family tickets, but seating is formal and foyer lacks play areas, so patience is needed for kids under 12.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: This allows time for a 30-minute family concert, a foyer visit and a café break without rushing.
C’è musica e musica 2.0:
Enjoy the 30-minute family concerts in Sala Mehta on Sundays at 11 am.
Tip: Book tickets in advance as seats fill up; arrive early to claim breakfast vouchers.
Il Maggio dei ragazzi:
Watch shorter, child-friendly operas with simple staging.
Tip: Check box office for family rates and children’s seating options.
MaggioTour behind-the-scenes tour:
Join a 1 hr guided walk through the stage, costume workshops and rehearsal halls.
Tip: Reserve spots by email before your trip; have children stay close to the guide.

Staff was friendly. Opera was magnificent. Parking was non existent, so you have to park somewhere else.

The balcony seats were terrible. I was sitting in the second row of the balcony and the view was completely blocked by the half wall at the front of the balcony. I couldn't see the stage at all. I could barely see the percussionists at the back of the stage. I might as well have been listening to the concert on the radio. The tickets should have been cheaper with a note that the view was obstruct...

Wonderful performance. Glad we were able to enjoy Verdi’s Aida while visiting Florence this summer.

Easy to walk to from central Florence station. Saw an opera. They have a caffè and a wine bar and food during intermission. Lots of bathrooms

Wonderful facility and acoustics. Very easy to access via public transportation or taxi. The Florence symphony is an incredibly talented group. My wife father and I loved the performance.
The Maggio Musicale Festival runs April–July with extra family shows on weekends. Outside festival dates, check the official calendar online.
