What makes it 77% Kids-Friendly: A 10-min Dome film, scavenger hunts, and occasional hands-on workshops engage 6–12s, yet fragile exhibits, few interactive screens, and no play zone may shorten patience after an hour.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Allows time for the scavenger hunt, Dome film, terrace visit and a café break without rushing kids.
Mini scavenger hunt:
Spot Donatello’s Penitent Magdalene, Giotto reliefs and Brunelleschi’s lantern model.
Tip: Download the museum map to set DIY challenges for each child.
Dome Gallery film:
Watch the 10-minute animated film on Brunelleschi’s dome.
Tip: Seat restless kids here first; it’s air-conditioned and has benches.
Brunelleschi Terrace:
Climb (or take the elevator) to enjoy 360° views of Florence.
Tip: Bring a camera and water; plan this break when kids need fresh air.
Family art workshop:
Try fresco painting or clay sculpting in guided sessions.
Tip: Check dates online and book slots in advance; workshops cost €10–€20 per child.
Spring & autumn: visit midweek for fewer crowds. Summer: use late openings (May–Oct) for cooler temps and sunset views. Winter: shorter hours but cozy café breaks.

Beautifully laid out museum, a joy for the senses. Seeing the gold doors was a treat and obvious pride and care went into the entire place. The view from the roof was a surprise as it is so near to the dome. Seeing the unfinished pieta made it worth the price on its own. A must for every visitor to Florence

Don't skip this gem of a museum, small, intimate but full of the loveliest pieces you will find this side of the Rubicon. Giotto, Michelangelo, Donatello, Ghiberti - his doors alone are worth the visit, the most beautiful bronze work I have ever witnessed. My only regret? That an elevated platform to see the highest bronze works on the doors was available, just magnificent. This place is not to b...

Museum dedicated to the Duomo in Florence. It has many spectacular works, including the façade and golden doors that used to allow access to the dual before it was rebuilt and enlarged.

This was one of the biggest museums I've ever visited, I thought the building was way smaller. It collects a rich history behind the Duomo and how everything was built, nice video presentations behind the work that was done and also astonishing sculptures from Michelangelo, Bandinelli and many more. Definitely worth a visit, plus the terrace on top has a great view!
