Basilica della Santissima Annunziata sits on the north side of its perfectly proportioned piazza as the Servites’ mother church, founded in 1250. The whole place pivots around an Annunciation image that tradition says was begun in 1252 and finished by angelic hands - a story that turned the church into a Marian sanctuary and pulled in serious patronage. In 1444 the Gonzaga funded a special tribune...

Very particular Sanctuary, richly decorated. There is a possibility to walk behind the altar, for that go the confession chapel (on the left if you are facing the main altar), and there is a small passage there, few meters and turn right.

Wow.. just wow.. the pics don’t do justice!! The basilica’s interior was definitely one of the most beautiful I ever visited.. to be honest, the famous supposed-to-be miraculous painting of Madonna was a bit underwhelming though.. just enjoy the other beautiful stuffs!

This is one of the lesser known churches in Firenze. They have many masses per day which makes it forbidden to take photos or stay inside if you're not praying. But if you're near Galleria dell'Academia then it's worth a visit!

In January–March, browse the Fiera del Cioccolato stalls in the piazza. In summer, attend the late-afternoon mass to escape the midday heat. Check the official site for special recitals on feast days.
