How Baby-Friendly is The Book of Kells Experience?

54%Baby-Friendly
View Map

Babies ride ramps and a small lift and have a change table, yet aisles are narrow and there is no public nursing room; off-peak slots and a carrier cut stress in the dim, whisper-only halls.

(from 17,204 reviews)

Positives:

  • Stroller accessible: Ramps and small elevators connect the Red Pavilion, Treasury and Long Room.
  • Baby-friendly facilities: Baby-changing units and accessible toilets are available in the Red Pavilion.

Challenges:

  • Narrow walkways: The Treasury has tight paths; you may prefer a baby carrier.
  • Dim lighting: Low light in the Old Library may upset sensitive babies.

This is pretty incredible. It’s a beautiful presentation as you wait in line to see the actual book. It shows blown-up pictures and gives you the story of several pages so that when you see it you’re more prepared. The book itself is pretty incredible. Well preserved, and you can tell by the presence of everyone around that it’s a special artifact. The gospels or some of the greatest historical wo...

So much fun!!! The history was so interesting! While I was there the library was unfortunately under construction. They were taking all the books out but the employees in the library took the time to answer our questions! They were super kind and knowledgeable. The different artifacts there are so cool to look at! Everything was amazing to read and learn about. It was simply beautiful.
