Family-friendly musicals and child discounts help, yet 2-hour shows require quiet sitting, no cloakroom or play space exists, and some events impose minimum ages, so plan carefully.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Allows time to arrive, see a full family-friendly show, grab snacks and exit without rushing.
Book a family-friendly musical:
Choose a show rated for children ages 3–12.
Tip: Book online early for best seats and reduced child fares.
Grab snacks at kiosks:
Pick popcorn or sweets at one of four kiosks on each floor.
Tip: Buy before intermission to avoid long lines.
Use lifts for stroller access:
Lifts serve all public levels for easy stroller transport.
Tip: Ask front-of-house staff to point you to the nearest lift.
Explore Grand Canal Square:
Walk around the plaza with modern sculptures after the show.
Tip: Let kids play near the colourful benches and water features.
Family shows often run in spring and around winter holidays; check the schedule two months in advance for best availability.

Excellent visit with family. Parking with 1min walk. Great venue. No issues. Had a drink before and could pre order for the interval. Recommended to go and see a show in Dublin. As it wasn’t sold out the staff offered better seats. Great night had.

A truly spacious theatre. I’ve been to many theatres in West End and UK, but this was the first time I’ve seen the front row so close to the stage. The sound were excellent, and the staff were very friendly. There were plenty of toilets as well, which made the interval much more relaxed.

What an incredible show. Love going to the Bord Gais Energy Theatre. Entry to the theatre was done via the NFC ticket on your phone. This was very simple to use and scan. There is plenty of room in the foyer which consists of some seating as well as plenty of standing area & counters. There is a full bar, coffee dock and they also sell popcorn and a variety of bags of sweets. We thoroughly enjoyed...

Absolutely superb theatre. I've been going here for years and have never been disappointed. The seats mean there is always a good view of the stage no matter where you sit. One of my favourite places to see a show.

Always love going here. Went to see Book of Mormon. Very funny show. Only complaint is cannot bring alcohol into your seat. YET they happily serve you full glasses wine and pints knowing you won’t be allowed in. And they close the doors if you are still outside drinking won’t be allowed back in! Did this both before and at the intermission. Recommend not buying a €10 pint or €12.70 glass of wine...
