School-age children join €3 campus tours and free Sunday art workshops, while lawns allow safe running, yet no playground or hands-on exhibits may cause boredom after two hours.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Enough time for a guided tour, arboretum walk and art workshop.
Public Historic Tour:
Join a 70-minute student-led walk of the main quadrangle, Honan Chapel and Crawford Observatory.
Tip: Book a 3 pm slot; children under 4 go free and those 4–16 cost €3 each.
Self-guided Arboretum Walk:
Follow the free map to spot 150-year-old redwoods and local wildlife.
Tip: Download the UCC Arboretum brochure online and start at the main gate for stroller-friendly paths.
Family Sundays at The Glucksman:
Join free drop-in art workshops every Sunday from 3–4 pm.
Tip: Arrive 15 minutes early to get art materials for each child.
President’s Garden Stroll:
Walk the landscaped gardens next to the Glucksman Gallery.
Tip: Grab a coffee at the café terrace and let kids explore the lower grounds.
Visit in spring for blossoming gardens and in autumn for colourful arboretum foliage. Family Sundays run year-round except holidays.

I returned yesterday to the beautiful campus and was sad to see the whole place overgrown with weeds and grass. It was once so well kept and ready for visitors all year round. Hopefully the grounds will blossom again!

Because I have been working and studying in this university for many years, sometimes I take its beauty for granted - but woah do I love it here.

Wow, what a beautiful campus. I wish I had studied here. The entire area is maintained very well. I am glad that they have it opened for the public to visit and explore outside area. If you visit Cork, then it is worth visiting this place. The flower beds near the garden are beautiful.
