What makes it 82% Baby-Friendly: Wide pram-friendly paths, baby-changing rooms and spacious café suit a stroller visit. No dedicated nursing room and some uneven side trails mean extra care near water and roots.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Enough time to stroll main trails, visit playground, and enjoy a café break without rushing your baby.
Stroller-Friendly Walk:
Follow the Fishpond Walk on surfaced paths suitable for prams and enjoy river views.
Tip: Start from the Visitor Centre and loop back via the oak-lined avenue for shade.
Children’s Playground:
Let your toddler explore swings and slides near the café.
Tip: Plan your break here mid-visit so baby can watch older kids.
Lakeside Picnic:
Choose a shaded bench by the canal or under oaks for a snack break.
Tip: Bring a blanket and pack easy-to-eat finger foods for the baby.
Guided Court Tour:
Join the 30-min tour through Doneraile Court’s historic rooms.
Tip: Use a baby carrier as the stairs are not pram-friendly; tours run hourly.
Visitor Centre Facilities:
Access baby-changing rooms and toilets at the main Visitor Centre.
Tip: Visit before 16:45 when baby rooms close; pick up park maps here.
In summer, arrive early to find shaded spots and pack insect repellent for midges. In winter, check café hours and bring warm layers as shade makes it chillier near the river.

This has to be one of the best free family days out. It has everything. A very good kids park and very safe. Plenty of walks from 2k to 10k. Very picturesque and loads of places to have a picnic. The tea rooms in the main house is very good and run by Sarah at the Crossroads which is also worth a visit. Overall a great family day out.

We brought our two grandchildren (5+1), and all of us loved it. The deer, playground, tearoom, and walks for different staminas were excellent. 10/10 would recommend. Will return.

A fantastic place for spending time together with family or friends. Plenty of space for walking, beautiful views, topped off with little deer ( Bambi 😊). I would recommend to everyone.
