How Couple-Friendly is Ubud Palace?

Couples can enjoy a leisurely courtyard walk and share an atmospheric evening dance, yet scarce shaded seating and the absence of an on-site café slightly reduce overall comfort.

Considerations for visiting Ubud Palace (couple trip)

Positives:

  • Free admission: Entry to the palace grounds is free, ideal for budget-conscious couples
  • Cultural immersion: Experience authentic Balinese dance and architecture in one location
  • Central location: Located in Ubud’s town center, steps away from cafes and shops

Challenges:

  • Limited signage: Few English signs inside the palace; consider downloading a guide or using a local guide app
  • Unreserved seating: Performance seating is first-come, bench-style; arrive early for adjacent seats
  • No on-site refreshments: There are no food or drink vendors inside; bring bottled water or buy nearby

Recommended visit duration: 2-3 hours

Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for couple trip: Allows time for exploring the palace grounds and attending the evening dance performance

Ubud palace is a nice place to visit in the heart if Ubud. It’s small because only few areas are accessible, but it’s still worth visiting. Ancient architecture is beautiful.

Ubud Palace is definitely worth a quick stop if you’re in the area. It’s a nice place to see, with some traditional architecture and cultural value, but it’s not particularly impressive or memorable. If you skip it, you won’t miss much — but if you have some time, it’s worth a short visit.

Beautiful small palace that's still inhabited by the royal family of Ubud. Lots of Instagrammable backdrops of typical Balinese statues and door carvings. Traffic can be bad during rush hour but rest assured that there are traffic security officers to help you cross. This palace is just opposite the Ubud Artistic Market.

The Ubud Palace is a beautiful sight to see while walking around downtown. It is free to walk around. The complex is much larger than what is open to the public because it is still a residence for the royal family. The architecture was beautiful and it was fun to see kids running around behind the gates of the private residence. I would have loved some signage around the complex to give informatio...

Ubud Palace is a beautiful cultural landmark in the heart of Ubud, showcasing stunning Balinese architecture and intricate carvings. The entrance is free and it’s a great spot to admire traditional design and history. In the evening, you can also watch traditional dance performances here. A quick but worthwhile visit if you’re exploring Ubud! Follow me @roxana.iamandi.❤️
