How Kids-Friendly is Tegalalang Rice Terrace?

School-age kids enjoy short nature trails, swing rides, and farmer chats, but steep muddy paths lack railings, and no play areas or first-aid posts mean close supervision.

Considerations for visiting Tegalalang Rice Terrace (with kids)

Positives:

  • Wide family trails: Paths near the entrance are gentle and safe for young children.
  • Hands-on culture: Kids can watch farmers demonstrate the subak irrigation system.

Challenges:

  • Uneven terrain: Steep and narrow sections can be slippery after rain.
  • Peak-time crowds: Photo spots fill quickly around midday; lines can form.

Recommended visit duration: 3-5 hours

Why 3-5 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Enough time for terrace walk, swings, coffee break, and souvenir shopping without rushing.

Stunning terrace but quite commercialized and crowded. The paths can be tricky, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes. I only bought the entrance ticket and didn’t purchase any additional packages, but the staff still helped take nice videos and photos for me

The stunning landscape of the rice terraces is truly a sight. The way the fields cascade down the mountains creates an amazing visual experience. For the more adventurous ones, I'd recommend trying the different activities: zip line, flying carpet, and the swing. (Although we could get a good photo, it was a bit scary.)

Great experience. Make sure you wear tennis shoes. The ground is very uneven and a lot of walking but if you can manage through this, this is a must-seeing place. They offer zip lining and have several places for great photos. Make sure you bring a hat and your camera.

Absolutely amazing experience — a must-do in Bali! The rice terraces are stunning, with breathtaking views in every direction. There are so many fun activities to try — swings, zip lines, sky bikes — all very well organized and surprisingly quick with little to no waiting. The staff is incredibly friendly and professional, and there’s a lovely café on site with great coffee and service. Everything...

No need to buy tickets in advance. Be ready to climb a lot of large and steeps stairs if you want to see anything at all. It’s hard to get around and figure out where you are, signs are scarce and you will get lost. It is a great experience and amazing for taking photos. There are small shops and bars scattered across the fields where you can take a break. Worth a visit!
