How Solo-Friendly is TANAH LOT TEMPLE?

A solo traveler can roam freely on the coastal paths, photograph the temple, join budget tours, and meditate, while needing only moderate fitness for steps, so the site suits solos very well.

Considerations for visiting TANAH LOT TEMPLE (solo trip)

Positives:

  • Easy Solo Navigation: Wide paved paths make it simple to explore alone at your own pace.
  • Meeting Other Travelers: Shared viewpoints at sunset create chances to chat with fellow solo visitors.

Challenges:

  • Crowded at Sunset: The main terrace fills quickly before sunset—plan to arrive early.
  • Uneven Steps: Stone stairs and cliff-side paths can be slippery when wet—wear sturdy shoes.

Recommended visit duration: 2-3 hours

Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for solo trip: Enough time to explore the cliff paths, join a dance show, and catch sunset without rushing.

This ancient Hindu temple complex is a must-visit destination for any traveler to Bali. The temple's stunning architecture and breathtaking ocean views make it a photographer's paradise. Witness the sunset here, and you'll be treated to a kaleidoscope of colors dancing ac...

A beautiful place to visit, but do try to visit during low tide so you can walk to the temple which is a much better experience. Otherwise you have to just view it from far. It’s good to come early morning or during sunset otherwise it’s going to be very hot.

This temple was not in our agenda but we had half a day left and decided to visit. I am glad we did it. Amazingly beautiful view of temple along the sea shore. They have plenty of shops offering Bali sovereign and decent prices. There are eateries , juice shops and clean toilets available.

A must-visit cultural and scenic landmark in Bali! Tanah Lot is absolutely breathtaking, with the ocean. The coastal views are stunning, and the spiritual atmosphere adds a unique charm. One of Bali’s most iconic spots, this temple is stunning on clear days and at sunset. Expect strong winds and waves that add to its dramatic charm. Explore both sides of the temple for unique views. Nearby, a liv...

A Must-Visit Iconic Temple in Bali! I recently visited Tanah Lot Temple in Bali, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The temple itself is perched on a rock formation in the middle of the sea, creating a dramatic and beautiful sight—especially during high tide when it looks completely surrounded by water. While visitors aren’t allowed to go inside the temple, the surrounding area is open...
