How Solo-Friendly is Nusa Lembongan?

Solo travellers find abundant group dive trips, affordable hostels, beach bars and safe scooter routes, so they can stay active and meet others, although ATMs and evening transport are limited.

Considerations for visiting Nusa Lembongan (solo trip)

Positives:

  • Solo-Friendly Tours: Most snorkeling and surf tours welcome individual bookings and mix small groups.
  • Easy Navigation: The island is small—renting a scooter or walking lets you reach key spots quickly.

Challenges:

  • Limited ATMs: Only a few ATMs on the island. Carry enough cash for activities and meals.
  • Uneven Paths: Cliffside trails can be steep. Wear closed shoes when exploring rocky spots.

Recommended visit duration: 1-2 days

Why 1-2 days visit duration is ideal for solo trip: Enough time to snorkel, explore mangroves and catch a sunset without rushing.

Rat Island,, lovely to visit the beaches, excellent snorkeling etc.. but don’t go inland and definitely don’t stay in the rat infested bungalows or eat from rat infested kittens. The smell of urine is everywhere, masses on masses of piled up rubbish fills this place. Stick to Arthamas Fastboat and do everything from the beach or sea

I visited Nusa lembongan 10 years ago. It was super nice. A real paradise.. Now in 2025 I do not recognize any beauty. The built EVERYWHERE and RUBBISH is a HUGE problem. But the worst is the smoke. All day there are several fire all over the island. After sunset it is impossible to stay outside. The toxic smoke of the plastic they burn every day is unbearable. There is a big dump on the interior ...

The neighbouring Nusa Ceningan is accessible via a charming yellow bridge, which is a popular Instagrammable location in Bali. The most common way for people to get between Nusa Lembongan and Bali is by fast boat. The distance is about 15 kilometres between Bal...

We discovered this island in December, 2023 after we stayed here for one week. We loved it and determined that we would come back for longer, which we are now, almost 3 weeks. The island has most things that you need, and a much, much slower pace of life along with beautiful beaches, crystalline, Waters, and beautiful people

Great place to visit. Staying at 3 monkeys on the island. Great little hotel and bar with good food. Lots to do and explore here. Great surfing, snorkelling and diving. If you are in Bali it is worth the 45 minute ferry to come here and explore real paradise .
