Parents can park near the courtyard and let children over eight enjoy short hikes and views, but steep cobblestones, simple toilets and no play area limit comfort and safety.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: A 1–2 hour visit lets families enjoy the main sights without tiring younger children.
Drive-up Photo Stop:
Park at the monastery entrance and explore the flat courtyard with kids.
Tip: Visit in the morning for softer light and cooler temperatures.
Courtyard Exploration:
Let kids run safely on the paved courtyard and enjoy 360° views.
Tip: Use shaded olive trees for a quick rest or picnic.
Short Family Hike:
Follow the marked 2.5 km trail from Pyrgos to the monastery.
Tip: Start early, bring water, and only attempt if children are over 8.
Gift Shop Souvenirs:
Browse monk-made items like postcards, soaps, and rosaries.
Tip: Let older kids pick one small item under €5 as a keepsake.
Attend a Short Service:
Experience the 5 pm Greek Orthodox vesper inside the chapel.
Tip: Check service times beforehand and remind kids to stay quiet.
In summer the courtyard heats up quickly—visit early or late and pack hats, sunscreen, and extra water. In winter months, call ahead to confirm opening hours.

You can feel the peace here. Highest spot on island with spectacular view to Santorini caldera! Must go spot!

Nothing to write home about, but if you‘re already on your way, you should just pay it a visit of 15-20 mins and tick the box you went to the highest point of Santorini. Not much more than that honestly.

Beautiful place for a stunning view of the island. A bit adventurous to get on top of, but with a car it is manageable. Make sure to dress modestly as it is a place of worship, but to enter the chapel they will also provide you with a cover.

One of the highlights of Santorini – breathtaking views! Moni Profiti Ilia was without a doubt one of the best spots we visited on the island. The panoramic views from the top are absolutely stunning , you really get a sense of how unique Santorini is from up here. Will give 2 stars for just the view as you can see almost the same view elsewhere on the island. The monastery was closed and it was only really run down abandoned buildings that you could see there. Very disappointing drive up and down.
