Couples can share padded loungers, enjoy seafood dinners and stroll at sunset along the black sand, but steady beach-bar music and party traffic may reduce privacy for very romantic moments.
Why 2-4 hours visit duration is ideal for couple trip: Allows time for sunbathing, dinner at the taverna, and a sunset walk
Sunset Beach Walk:
Stroll the seven-kilometre stretch of black sand as the sun sets over the Aegean
Tip: Start 30 minutes before sunset on the north end for less crowd and vivid colors
Beach Lounger & Umbrella:
Relax on padded loungers under straw umbrellas
Tip: In peak season, waive the €10–15 fee with a €20 minimum food or drink tab
Dinner at Fratzeskos:
Enjoy grilled day-boat octopus and fresh seafood platters beachfront
Tip: Reserve a table at 19:00 to catch the sunset views while you dine
Cocktails at Waves:
Sip signature cocktails to live saxophone tunes by the sea
Tip: Visit on Friday nights after 20:00 for the saxophone set
Open-Air Cinema:
Watch English-language films with Greek subtitles under the stars
Tip: Buy tickets (€8) early as showings fill up fast in July–Sept
July–Aug: use a €20 food tab for free sunbeds. Sept–Oct: cooler temps ideal for Ancient Thera hike. Nov–Apr: many beach bars close; check opening hours before you go.

Paralia Perissa is one of Santorini’s famous black sand beaches. The volcanic sand is striking and unique, though it can get quite hot under the sun. To the north, a massive rocky mountain separates Perissa from the nearby village of Kamari. We visited during the off-season, and it was calm and quiet—perfect for a peaceful seaside walk. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Fine beach if you really want to go to the beach on Santorini, but otherwise not really worth going from a tourism perspective, unless you have never seen a black-sand beach. Lots of day-beds, shops, and restaurants. Also lots of areas where you can setup your own space for the day. There is free public parking about two blocks away from the beach.

Such a beautiful and peaceful beach — perfect if you’re looking to avoid the crowds. The deckchairs are super affordable, and some nearby restaurants even offer them for free if you dine there, which is a nice bonus. Or you can just lay out your towel and enjoy it without spending a thing. Overall, a great spot to relax and unwind.

Sand is hot, which in April is a blessing since water was quite cold. Picturesque. Awesome bars next to the beach.
