What makes it 48% Baby-Friendly: Public toilets, showers, shade trees and changing cabin help parents, but bumpy pebble entry, deep sea, no stroller boardwalk and no nursing room mean visits with infants are brief and tricky.
Note: Paralia Pantanassas is 48% Baby-Friendly. You may want to consider other Baby-Friendly Things to Do in Heraklion for a more suitable experience.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Pebbly shore and limited shade suit shorter visits with a baby.
Rent sunbeds & parasol:
Secure a shaded spot for your baby near the water.
Tip: Book early in high season to find a set close to facilities.
Use showers & changing rooms:
Rinse off saltwater and change diapers comfortably.
Tip: Bring a quick-dry towel and spare clothes.
Stroll under the pine grove:
Enjoy a shaded walk along the beach edge.
Tip: Look for flat areas to rest with your baby.
Grab snacks at the beach café:
Pick up ice cream and drinks without leaving the beach.
Tip: Carry small coins to speed up orders.
Explore Panagia Pantanassa monastery:
Walk the open grounds above the beach for views.
Tip: Use the parking lot by the chapel and bring a carrier for your baby.

Day Dortmans
Really big and quiet beach. Just locals and only a handful of people. Beds and umbrellas available. If you want a picturesque beach, opt for one of the smaller beaches nearby, but for chilling in the sun and swimming this one’s great.

Nice and calm beach. Only few people there. Sunbeds are for 10€ but there is a lot of space to lay on the ground. You can park your car beside the beach in the harbor.

It’s the only beach nearby. There are much better beaches on Crete, but if you’re in the area, this is your easiest option. Keep in mind the water is really deep and you have less than 1.5m in the sea before going deep. I’d say it’s a bit dangerous for children. The beach cafe and staff are really friendly and positive people trying to make your stay pleasant.

Close to heraklion ,with a small cantine and reasonable price
Athina Maniadi
