The fort was good, nice marina, lots of good shopping. Good places to eat in the centre of town. Not a lot of historic buildings left. Very busy, local bus was cheap but manic. On return from heraklion buy your tickets at the bus station first

We went there for a night walk; it was really pleasant and romantic 🥰 The port is walkable with a lot of restaurants nearby if you want to enjoy a meal with a cool view 😊 We passed by again another day during daytime. I personally preferred it at night with the lights and reflections… it’s a different vibe 💫 When you pass by there, you are not far from the city center, and you can park your car...

I truly recommend the museum inside the fortress. The exhibition is fairly new and provides a lot of insights to the history of the city. A lot of old canons and canon balls. On top of everything there is a nice cafe at the top of the fortress. So you can enjoy a nice coffee on top of the already great view from this very iconic location.

The dam is 3km one way. Free entrance. Excellent place for jogging or hiking. If you like airplane, at the end of the dam, you are across from the airport. You can take photos or videos of the plane taking off the costal line.
