What makes it 79% Couple-Friendly: Couples can share food tastings, pick romantic gifts, and relax in tiny cafés along the lane, yet very tight aisles and limited seating reduce comfort during peak cruise hours.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for couple trip: Enough time to browse stalls, sample treats, and enjoy a coffee break without rushing.
Stroll the Old Market corridor:
Wander the main 1866 Street and browse stalls selling spices, cheeses and honey.
Tip: Arrive after the morning delivery for the freshest produce and best photos.
Sit for Greek coffee people-watching:
Choose a small café on the market edge and sip Ellinikos while observing local life.
Tip: Order a single coffee each to use seating politely and blend in with vendors.
Join a guided food stroll:
Sample olives, pastries and souvlaki on a 3-hour “Flavors of Heraklion” tour.
Tip: Book in advance and mention any dietary preferences to the guide.
