International Atene Hotel (couple trip)

For the price? My room was spacious, the bathroom was good sized, the Tv was small, it had a small balcony, but it could have been cleaner. There were dead mosquitoes on the wall from where people had killed them. The reception staff was very friendly and professional. And the breakfast buffet was a good value! The breakfast buffet was very well maintained and had a wide selection of hot and cold ...

The rooms are dirty,missing things. The staff who serves the breakfast is rude ( not everyone,though). I loved the breakfast - it was really good. The area around hotel is ghetto,but it's relatively close to city center. If I wasn't part of the group,I would never book this by myself.

We had a lot of apprehension after booking the room and only later checking out the neighborhood (Omonia). Ignore the dire warnings about the drug addicts, hookers and filth. The hotel and facilities are decent, the breakfast is pretty simple but OK (not compatible to a 4 stars hotel). The rooms need to be repainted, the walls are dirty. But the biggest downside is the neighborhood which is not good though it's only 10-15 minutes walk to the center. The neighborhood is not clean and in some places doesn't feel safe.
