What makes it 63% Baby-Friendly: Paved paths suit strollers and a garden toilet has a changing table, yet scarce nursing rooms on the square, loud crowds, and summer heat mean parents must limit stay and bring supplies.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Allows time for the Changing of the Guard, a garden stroll, a train ride, and breaks with the baby without rushing.
Watch the Changing of the Guard:
See the Evzones in traditional uniforms march in front of Parliament.
Tip: Arrive 10 minutes early for a clear view and keep the baby on your front to reduce noise.
Stroll the National Gardens:
Walk stroller-friendly paths under tree shade.
Tip: Pick a circular route to include the Zappeion Park quiet corners for baby naps.
Ride the Athens Happy Train:
Enjoy a smooth open-air ride past city landmarks.
Tip: Fold the stroller at your seat; tickets are €6 per adult, baby rides free on lap.
Relax at Zappeion Park:
Find quiet lawns ideal for feeding or naps.
Tip: Use the southeast exit of the Gardens and spread a blanket in the grass.

Syntagma Square and Ermou Street form the vibrant heart of Athens and are absolutely worth a visit, especially during the late afternoon hours when the heat begins to ease. Syntagma is not only historically important—with the Parliament building and the famous Changing of the Guard ceremony—but also a great starting point for exploring the city. A nice area to relax in a usually very busy part of Athens right in front of the Parliament Building that’s across the street.

The very centre of Athens that has wonderful views of the surrounding area. It's a pleasant place to relax, especially by the fountains.

A beautiful and lively part of Athens. I went in August; there was live music and plenty of both tourists and locals enjoying the ambience. Very busy but amazing vibes! In front of the parliament and near beautiful hotels. The metro station is right here, as well as bus stops going to the airport and other destinations. In the daytime, there’s also places to sit down in the shade when it’s hot.

Make sure to check out the "changing-of-the-guards" event at the Helleni...
In summer, visit before 10 AM for cooler shade in the gardens and bring extra water. In winter, plan midday visits to avoid morning chill and strong winds around the square.
