What makes it 76% Kids-Friendly: Kids enjoy the tunnel funicular, spotting the Acropolis from the deck, and an easy forest walk down, but steep stairs, summer sun, and few toilets demand close adult supervision.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: This allows time for the cable car ride, chapel visit, panoramic views and a quick snack without tiring young children.
Cable Car Ride:
Ride the funicular to the summit in 3–4 minutes.
Tip: Buy tickets online or arrive before 10 am to skip lines and hold hands with kids during the ride.
Chapel of St. George:
Explore the small whitewashed church at the top.
Tip: Point out the bell tower to kids and use the terrace benches for a family photo.
Panoramic Terrace:
Spot the Acropolis, Saronic Gulf and Lycabettus Theatre from the viewing deck.
Tip: Bring a small binocular or smartphone zoom to help kids identify landmarks.
Summit Picnic:
Enjoy packed sandwiches at the benches near the chapel.
Tip: Pack water and easy-to-eat snacks; bench spots fill up fast near sunset.
Shaded Descent Trail:
Walk down the pine-shaded path to Kolonaki.
Tip: Turn it into a scavenger hunt by spotting pine cones, birds and city views.

I hiked all the way to the top, about 45 minutes and it was worth it. The view at the top of Athens, Piraeus and the islands was breath taking. And the restaurant at the top was fantastic and food was excellent. I would definitely go back.

Great view and worth the travel You can experience and view a true act of unconditional love from this vantage point. Centuries ago, there is a boyfriend and girlfriend. The boyfriend loved his girlfriend so much that he carved a heart out of the side of a mountain to show the world. The love he had for this woman. Priceless

Loved it, as there were no crowds and I had a lovely view of Athens and Acropolis. It was also very windy. :))

Such a beautiful place mount Lycabettus is with breathtaking views during the day or night. I noticed that a lot of people go there as it is so popular for both locals and tourists. There are plenty of parking spaces at no charge.

It’s a little bit of a trek to get up to the top but once you do the views are priceless. The hike from the bottom was about 45 minutes with a few short breaks. It’s definitely doable but be sure to bring some water along if it’s a hot day to stay hydrated. There is a little cafe at the top to grab some drinks and snacks once you get there to refuel for the way down. It was a bit of a mission but ...
In summer visit late afternoon to avoid midday heat and catch sunset; bring hats and water. In winter layer up as summit winds can feel chilly.
