What makes it 47% Baby-Friendly: Babies ride free, yet both stations have stairs, folded-stroller only entry, no diaper tables or nursing rooms, and drop-offs near paths, so comfort and safety are limited.
Note: Lycabettus Hill Funicular is 47% Baby-Friendly. You may want to consider other Baby-Friendly Things to Do in Athens for a more suitable experience.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Allows funicular ride, summit stroll, snack break and rest stops without rushing.
Funicular ride to the summit:
Board the funicular for a 10-minute tunnel ride to Lycabettus Hill’s peak.
Tip: Fold and carry your stroller into the aisle; baby under 3 rides free. Arrive early to skip queues.
Summit plaza stroll and chapel visit:
Walk on the paved plaza around St. George’s Chapel with citywide views.
Tip: The flat surface is stroller-friendly; pack a sun hat and water for your baby.
Snack at summit café:
Grab coffee or light bites at the Orizontes kiosk near the chapel.
Tip: Call ahead to request a high chair; indoor seating offers quieter corners for feeding.
Use coin-operated telescopes:
Insert €1 to view the Acropolis and Piraeus up close.
Tip: Kids love peering through the lenses; keep small change handy.

It's very useful to go app.The mountain, i'm very fast over you have to walk up there and i expect the time we are going up. Maybe we'll see some view Outside. But it's all close. On top, you can show the view. Though and you can sit on the coffee store to see all the view

Incredibly over priced. Its a 4 minute trip in a black dark tunnel. If you don't feel like climbing the hill, take the trip up and walk back down. The views outside are much nicer than the tunnel in the dark. The funnicular is very disappointing, but the views at the top and walking back down are very nice.

This was fun for the children but hugely overpriced! £50 for 5 of us to travel 5 minutes up and back down! Incredibly hot and it's just a black tunnel! If you're able to, I would recommend going up the hill for sunset via the beautifully landscaped flat footpath that runs all the way to the top! Or maybe a single way ticket for the kids to enjoy the experience and then walk down and enjoy the nic...

I see people saying it’s expensive. STOP BEING CHEAP. ITS €13 for a round trip. I believe the issue is they walk all the way there but a one way. Then get tired to come back down then have to buy another 1 way, THATS YOUR FAULT. HERE IS A TIP- take a taxi there. The amount of steps we had to go up, I almost gave UP. We got there a little after 10AM WHICH WAS THEE PERFECT TIME. After 11 the...

Lycabettus Hill is the highest point in Athens and is surrounded by a lovely pine forest, offering stunning views of the whole city all the way out to the sea. Getting to the top is a bit of a challenge, as it's a moderate hike covering about 0.9 miles with a 216-foot elevation gain. If you have health issues, it’s probably best to skip the hike. You can also take the Lycabettus Funicular, a tram...
In summer, ride early or late to avoid midday heat. In winter, afternoons have calmer winds and softer light.
