(from 10,618 reviews)

Positives:

  • Free Access: No charge for the dam, terrace, elevator, or restrooms.
  • Stroller-Friendly Elevator: Elevator fits most strollers for easy roof access.
  • Nearby Facilities: Public restrooms and baby-friendly cafés are within a 5-minute walk.

Challenges:

  • Narrow Interior Spaces: Corridors in the lapidarium are tight; a baby carrier is easier than a stroller.
  • No Baby-Changing Stations: Use the accessible stall in the restroom and bring a portable changing mat.
  • No Nursing Room: Plan feeds before or after your visit or find a quiet corner on the terrace.

Near to petite france, this covered bridge doesn't have much inside but the terrace ontop has fantastic views back across the city. Totally free to visit and climb to the roof terrace with a beautiful view back on the city. Worth it to enjoy the view.

If Victor Hugo were wandering around Strasbourg at night, he’d probably pause at Barrage Vauban, stare dramatically into the distance, and declare it “very poetic” before continuing his walk. Barrage Vauban really shines after dark. Beautiful spot with a great mix of history and views. The terrace on top gives a fantastic panorama of the Covered Bridges and Petite France, especially around sunset. The structure itself is interesting to walk through, and it’s completely free

In summer, the terrace stays open until 9 PM—perfect for cooler evening visits. In cooler months, visit mid-morning to avoid chilly winds on the roof.
