Mercure Nice Promenade des Anglais (couple trip)

This is hardly a 4 star hotel . Maybe a 3 or a solid 2. The rooms were dated and sorely needed work . The towels were so thin that you could see thru them . The only plus was the staff was nice and the location was great. Otherwise the hotel is basically a dump

There is no way this can be classed as a four star hotel. The rooms are dated, a cross between a cheap motel and a 1980s student dorm. The walls are pebble dashes dirty and carpets in the corridors are stained. There is no bar, no restaurant, no pool and no spa. We paid £340/night and it is a total rip-off. On the plus side the location is great and the staff are pleasant.

Excellent sea view and location. Very small, dated, and with tiny lifts. Room was average with walls that had visibly botched patch up jobs and tired looking furniture. Bathroom counter had massive stains. Cleaners never cleaned the carpet in the room or outside in the hallways. Balcony is so narrow you can't sit. The location is excellent especially if you have a sea facing view which we had. There is some kind of nightclub that goes until 3am and while the double balcony doors provide some relief you can still hear the duff duff. Location is fantastic and the view from the room and balcony is stellar! Housekeeping staff were lovely also. The only reason for the 3 stars is the layout of the room. There was no separate room for a bathroom. The shower and WC were more like little partitions (with doors) that open out into the main living/bedroom area and the wash basin was also in the main living/bedroom area. Definitely n...
