What makes it 63% Baby-Friendly: Museum ramps allow strollers and baby workshops exist, yet theatre floor is uneven and no confirmed changing tables or nursing room, so visits stay short and supply needs remain on parents.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: A 1-2 hour visit lets you explore the main ruins at a relaxed pace and take stroller breaks without overtiring your baby.
Stroll the paved esplanade:
Walk around the theatre’s outer paths on flat pavement.
Tip: Use a lightweight stroller; paths are wide and smooth.
Wander the stone tiers:
Carry your baby a few steps to climb the lower seating tiers.
Tip: Hold securely and pause on the edges for quick photos.
Picnic on the grassy terrace:
Relax on the shaded lawn below the site entrance.
Tip: Bring a blanket and snacks; free public toilets are nearby for diaper changes.
Visit the ground-floor model:
See the reconstructed theatre scale model in the adjacent museum.
Tip: Entry is free for babies; ground-floor galleries are stroller-accessible.
June–August hosts the Nuits de Fourvière evening shows—late start not ideal for babies. Spring and autumn mornings offer mild weather and fewer crowds for stroller strolls.

Walking through the theatre feels like stepping back in time, with its impressive stone seating, partially intact stage, and gentle slopes inviting exploratio. The site is remarkably well preserved, allowing visitors to walk freely among the ruins and soak up the atmosphere where audiences once gathered for performances nearly two thousand years ago.

This place is really cool. It’s free and easy to find. It is one of the cooler Roman ruins because it is still being used today. It was fun watching people enjoy it like a park. Would highly recommend visiting then heading over to the museum!

Amazing ruins to check out within a close walk from the Cathedral nearby. Unfortunately, we did not have the time to explore the inside of the museum, and since we were heading to Rome it seemed appropriate to postpone anthing Roman to our later trips. The ruins themselves however, still are able to immerse you in history and come alive as you walk through them.

Museum worth visiting, even if you don't speak French. They have audio guides in every language. I take my students here every year . It's fascinating. And very well laid out.
