It turned out to be quite a distance from the hotel in Shanghai where we were staying. The journey took about 2 hours by MRT to Lingang Avenue Station... then changed to DIDi to Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park. The park is spacious. The shows are timed. The Orca Show was especially exciting. If you get a seat in the front, be prepared with a raincoat. There are also rides like a roller coaster. Unfor...

I know what the animal activists say.. but I also appreciate the close-up experiences with the animals. I wish the enclosures were bigger, but then if they were - the animals would probably not be as close as they were. I managed to see 3 different shows - the mermaid, orcas and walrus show. All of them were excellent. The tough part of visiting this park is that everything is in Chinese.
Visit in spring (Apr–May) or autumn (Sep–Nov) for mild weather and smaller crowds. Pack a poncho if rain is forecast.
