Consider doing in this format, Tiananmen square->Tiananmen->Forbidden city->Jing shan park. Walk from South to North, where the Jingshan park is located. It is a very easy 10 min walk up to the top and you get a panaromic view of the whole Forbidden city.

A perfect place to go if you want to have whole view of Imperial Palace. I came here in the morning, not too crowded. But somebody told me it will be better in the afternoon when the afternoon sun shines on its golden roof.

September 2025 5* Famous park in Beijing to get the top view of Forbidden city and Beijing skyline. The park is very nice and you need to climb stairs to reach high point. Compare to other park, this remains open till 8 pm and you can get good night view from the top. There is 360 deck so you can see forbidden city on one side and city view on the other side.

When is the best time to visit Jingshan Park (Beijing, China)?

Visit in early spring for cherry blossoms and peonies. In autumn, the maples turn bright red. Arrive before mid-April to avoid Peony Festival crowds or pay CNY 10 for festival access.
