What makes it 49% Baby-Friendly: Smooth paving helps with strollers, yet the absence of diaper tables, nursing rooms, and indoor shelter forces caregivers to keep the stop brief or pay for museum access, lowering overall convenience.
Note: Thunderbird Park is 49% Baby-Friendly. You may want to consider other Baby-Friendly Things to Do in Victoria for a more suitable experience.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Short outdoors visit suits a baby’s routine and covers main highlights.
Stroller-Friendly Totem-Pole Walk:
Follow the paved loop to see over a dozen replica totem poles carved by First Nations artists.
Tip: Plan a 10–15 min stop at benches for feeding and diaper changes.
Seasonal Carving Studio Viewing:
In summer, watch live carving demos by Indigenous artists in the open-air studio tent.
Tip: Check July–September demo schedules on the Royal BC Museum website before visiting.
Quick Photo & Snack Break:
Use lawns near the poles for a short picnic or grab ice cream from nearby museum carts.
Tip: Bring preportioned snacks to minimize cleanup and avoid long pauses.
Royal BC Museum Indoor Facilities:
Enter the museum next door for washrooms, diaper change tables, and calm galleries.
Tip: Buy adult tickets in advance online to skip the box office line.

What a cool little spot with a lot of history. I highly recommend stopping & checking out these beautiful totem poles. Also the oldest house in Victoria is right by there & an old school. We really enjoyed wandering around this area. Downtown Victoria has so much to see & do.

What a great collection of amazing Indigenous artwork! There are several totem poles of various designs all within close proximity to one another. If you're in Victoria, you should take the time to walk through the park and check out these totem poles!
Summer (July–September) offers live carving demos. Rainy seasons require a light raincoat as park has no covered areas.
