What makes it 43% Baby-Friendly: Babies are accepted only at relaxed or open-house events; the theatre lists no nursing room or confirmed change tables and strollers stay in the lobby, so comfort is limited for most shows.
Note: Royal Theatre is 43% Baby-Friendly. You may want to consider other Baby-Friendly Things to Do in Victoria for a more suitable experience.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: A 2–3 hour visit lets you watch a relaxed pantomime and explore the lobby without rushing a baby.
Relaxed Pantomime Show: “The Little Mermaid”:
Enjoy an interactive family pantomime with lowered lights and sound for lap-held babies.
Tip: Buy tickets early and choose aisle seats for quick baby breaks.
Explore & Play Family Open House:
Join hands-on stations, music petting zoo, and short backstage tours.
Tip: RSVP on Eventbrite and use a baby carrier; stairs have no elevator.

Beautiful historic theater the royal theater in Victoria....its got lots of comfortable padded seating for lower floor & upper balcony areas & some side stage box balcony seats . Fyi They got no cup holders . The seats are wide but I found the seats comfortable with the padded but bit on the little tiny bit tight side for my size but overall I like the seats . It can get heat stuffy inside ...

Our team came here for a performance, and the venue staff were incredibly friendly and supportive. Their help made everything run smoothly, and we’re truly grateful. I wasn’t here in the role of a designer this time, so I really hope I’ll have the chance to return someday with a lighting design of my own.

What an extraordinary theatre. I was lucky enough to see Gogopenguin here and it was amazing. Wonderful facilities, great production, and a stunning theatre. Great GHs too!

Enjoyed seeing Come from Away at the beautiful Royal Theatre in Victoria. Found parking at the Public Library on Broughton and had a beautiful dinner at Browns Social House; all within a short walk to the theatre! A great evening in such a wonderful city! Was happy they eliminated the intermission. To avoid big lineups at washroom. Play was exceptional. Made me so proud to be Canadian!
Watch for holiday Family Day Open House events and special relaxed shows; check the theatre’s online calendar before visiting.
