What makes it 85% Kids-Friendly: Families with children find a playground, sandy beach, easy nature loops and scavenger hunt sheets, but must supervise near tide pools and steep edges and pack all snacks and drinking water.
Why 0.5-1 day visit duration is ideal for with kids: This timeframe lets families hike an easy loop, explore the beach, and enjoy a picnic without rushing.
Easy Nature Loop & Scavenger Hunt:
Follow the green-rated trail from the beach parking for under 1 km on flat ground.
Tip: Bring the PKOLS Conservancy bingo card to spot flowers, streams, and wildlife.
Playground & Field Games:
Use swings, slides, and the open grassy field near the beach parking lot.
Tip: Pack a frisbee or soccer ball; the backstop supports informal games.
Beach Exploration & Picnic:
Build sandcastles, search rock pools at Cordova Bay Beach, and enjoy snacks on the sand.
Tip: Bring buckets, towels, and a low-waste picnic; shade trees sit near the picnic zone.
Summit Drive or Short Hike:
Drive up Churchill Drive or hike 30 minutes to reach the top for 360° views over Victoria.
Tip: Start before noon to avoid traffic; carry water and snacks for the hike.

Beautiful views. Crisp clean air. Nice hike. Parking both at the bottom as well as on top. Please drive slowly as there are many people, young and old as well as many dogs walking along the road to the top and/or back to the bottom. Enjoy!

A great hiking spot with a great view at the top. There is a paved path that goes to the top, which gives you the option to have an easy walk up and down or just an easy walk down after a good hike up. If you like watching the sunset, then this is a great spot for that too.

Amazing experience. Climbing the hill was a great fun and full of excitement. We enjoyed beautiful forest views and calming vibe throughout the entire journey. The view from the peak is just mesmerizing. A must visit place!

What a beautiful trail in Victoria! I went there for a solo hike in late April. The wildflowers - Camas - are in full bloom! The park have a number of trails at different levels. The beach looks beautiful too though I couldn't visit due to the weather. The view from the summit is stunning. You will need

Great forested park with many marked and unmarked trails or various ability levels. You get an amazing view of the greater Victoria area and southern gulf islands. The spring wildflowers were everywhere throughout the forest during our trip. Don't be afraid to stop and look around as there are some really cool off shots to the main trail.
Spring brings bird-nesting closures on some trails—check Saanich Parks before visiting. Summer mornings stay cooler and quieter. Fall rains make trails muddy—wear waterproof shoes. Winter days are short—bring layers and start early.
