What makes it 56% Baby-Friendly: The bridge is stroller-friendly and offers short scenic pushes, but it has no restrooms, nursing space or shade, and wind exposure and noise may unsettle infants. Check nearby facilities in advance.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Allows time to cross the bridge, watch a bascule lift, explore observation decks, and stroll the Songhees Walkway with a baby.
Watch the bascule lift:
Stand on the bridge deck to see the span rise for passing boats.
Tip: Arrive 10 minutes early to secure a safe spot with your stroller.
Push a stroller along the south-side path:
Use the flat pedestrian-only path for a smooth walk.
Tip: Keep baby shaded with a canopy and bring a small blanket on cool days.
Visit under-deck observation decks:
Explore sheltered platforms to view the bridge’s machinery.
Tip: Carry the baby in a front carrier to get close to the gears safely.
Stroll the Songhees Walkway:
Continue onto the stroller-friendly boardwalk for harbour views.
Tip: Stop at benches to rest and let your baby enjoy the scenery.

I liked the old one for its uniqueness. But this has a great Walkway and cycling area and is a cool blue at night

I have also included a picture of the old bridge before the new one was built. Watch it raise and lower a few times while waiting for the Ferry to depart from the dock.

Like the bridge. I wasn't here to see it's old version, but I like the new one. It has a big walk and bike lane on one side and a small walk bridge on the other. And another two bike lanes on both sides of the road. Almost perfect view on Legislature Terminal (Parliament) with the background of Olympian Mountains. If I had a good zoom lens I would take this photo on a clear winter or spring day sh...

This bridge is beautiful, day and night. I've paused quite often to enjoy the views both of the bridge itself and from the bridge. There is a separate pedestrian walkway on one side (no cycling allowed), and the other side of the bridge is a shared bike/ pedestrian path. The traffic section of the bridge in the center flows nicely although it's quite busy. When the bridge is up, it can slow do...
In summer, visit around sunset for calm water and colourful skies. In cooler months, wrap your baby in layers and use the under-deck decks for wind shelter.
