Its construction finished in 1890 and it is among the largest and most ornate 19th century mansions in Western Canada. It is amazing to see how this family lived at that time and the house has amazing views. There is a souvenir shop and toilets. Save at least 1h for the visit. It will take yo...

It’s amazing to see how one of the richest men in British Columbia built this place. He found coal and became super wealthy, then brought all the bricks and materials from his country, piece by piece, to build this incredible castle. The details inside are beautiful, and you can really feel the history. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in Victoria!

The gardens around the castle are wonderful to explore and there is ample parking around t...
