In general, it has been a challenge to keep this area safe but the city is at least trying harder lately for certain outdoor events. If you're in the area during December evenings, the place is a marvel with wonderful light displays and music bringing the holiday cheer.

From June to August, enjoy free weekday concerts at 6 PM. On BC Day, dance to DJs in early August. In winter, look for pop-up ice rinks or a Ferris wheel; check the city site for current dates.
