What makes it 75% Kids-Friendly: Children enter free under 10 and can try hands-on games and watch parade goats, but tours are 1 h standing and cannons fire loudly, so some kids may tire or startle.
Why 2–3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Allows time for the guided tour, interactive exhibits, ramparts walk and a snack break without rushing.
Guided Citadelle and Museum Tour:
Join a 1-hour English-language outdoor tour of the fortress ramparts, redoubts and military prison.
Tip: Arrive 10 minutes early and hold your 3-year-old’s hand on narrow walkways.
Interactive “Je me souviens” Exhibit:
Use touch-screen maps, watch short videos and handle replica uniform pieces.
Tip: Let each child take turns at the screens; younger kids love the interviews gallery.
Tactiques Exhibition:
Complete hands-on missions using military figurines, board games and video games.
Tip: Kids 7+ can follow guided missions; bring your 12-year-old to lead the team.
Ramparts Walk and Panoramic Views:
Stroll the fortress walls for city and St. Lawrence River vistas.
Tip: Stop at the western lookout at sunset for family photos with the river backdrop.

Learnt about our military, Quebec and so grateful for all the help and sacrifices they do. I truly can explain how thankful I am. Lest we forget.

Amazing historic place, the tour was interesting and guide (William) was great. Be nice to see the trooping of the guard, doesn't happen all season. Views up there are impressive.

Fabulous changing of the guards ceremony. Suggest a Wed as a bigger show . it was 95C and soldiers were watching over the guards and taking them a straw cup to drink water every 15 min. Such precision! The little boutique shopping interesting too. I couldn't afford the tour(it was cheap, I am broke!) But people liked it.

This is a very good tour of a still active military base. Great for parents with teens who will find it interesting and educational. The museum was also very well done and very informative and telling the story of the 22nd regiment who continue to serve Canada to this day. I highly reccomend this tour.

Our tour guide, Joelle, was amazing! One of the best tours I've been on. Very informative, was able to answer all questions, and was a very outgoing person! Highly recommend.
In summer (Jun 26–Sep 1), catch the Music in Red band at 10 am Wed–Sun on the parade ground. All year, stay for the daily noon cannon firing—bring ear protection for small children.
