Econo Lodge Downtown (couple trip)

We (3 adults +1 Toddler) stayed in Econo lodge Ottawa downtown 4 days from 25 Aug 2025 to 28 Aug 2025. The only good thing about the Lodge is the location i.e. downtown and options for grocery stores to buy essentials otherwise we will not recommend anyone to stay here because of following reason. Very bad staff, bad service, and rude. They treated us as if we were staying for free. We were a large family and we took more than three rooms for three nights. The rooms were not clean and had cockroaches. I found a cockroach on the bed and this is shown in the pictures. I do not advise anyone to waste their money on this bad hotel.

the location is pretty solid, given that most attractions are at best a 10 min drive away. However, the rooms were not well maintained, I found small and medium sized roaches in the bathroom, particularly near the entrance and the bathtub. We booked online and paid in full via a booking company. Upon entering the lobby was dark and When we tried to check in they refused to give us the room because we did not have a credit card. We offered to leave a cash deposit and were met with a less than helpful dismissive attitude. Thankfully, the booking company had free cancelation and we were refunded immediately with no hassle.

Staff very friendly and helpful, rooms comfortable and clean, could use some updating . AC unit smelled of mold when turned on. location is interesting...had a man playing a drum outside the hotel lobby till late in the evening. (Not far from room). Overall decent value.
