Babies enter free and elevators reach most halls, yet the museum lists no nursing room or diaper tables and the archaeological trail has uneven floors that may jostle strollers.
Why 3-4 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Allows a slow-paced visit with breaks for the multimedia show and Lunch Room rests with your baby.
Archaeological Crypt Walk:
Explore the glass floor above Fort Ville-Marie ruins and the well-lit 1830s sewer tunnel.
Tip: Use the elevator to bring your stroller and stay close to the glass panels.
Yours Truly, Montréal Show:
Watch an 18-minute, 270° immersive projection of Montreal’s story.
Tip: Arrive early to find pram-friendly seats near the theatre entrance.
Lunch Room Rest Area:
Feed, change, or rest in a calm, inn-style space.
Tip: Bring your own snacks and visit on weekdays for quieter seating.
Alley-oop Interactive Adventure:
Follow a stroller-friendly, motion-activated game through animated back alleys.
Tip: Book your slot online in advance and fold the stroller only if staff request it.
In July and August, head outside after your visit for Summer Family Sundays. Bring a picnic to enjoy free workshops and shaded seating in the pedestrian zone.

Pretty interesting museum to checkout at the Old Port. The new and temporary interactive sections were the most fun .. knights, pirates, and the alley-op. Accessible by bus and we didn't need to buy tickets in advance as we visited on a weekday. I can see it could get busy on weekends, so you might want to plan in advance. Spent over two hours at the Montreal Museum of Archaeology and History and was still completely fascinated. The underground ruins, interactive exhibits, and storytelling made Montreal’s rich and diverse history come alive. A must-visit if you want to truly understand the roots of this incredible city!

The distribution of the place is innovative. I really liked how interactive the experience is, it was easier and actually fun to learn about the history of Montreal. The time-limited armored knights exposition was extremely worth it, and as a huge fan of medieval history and artifacts, it was THE highlight of my visit.

The kids were impressed, especially by the interactive room, scavenger hunt, and fun games. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Don’t miss the top floor — the view over the city and major attractions is amazing! There’s a...

Wonderful place to see Montreal History in brief. Old insurance building still stand below. Great movie to start with. Then so many different sections from A to E. I enjoyed the play section and the view from the top floor. Very informative and bistro available until 3.30 I think. Definitely visit again.
