What makes it 84% Kids-Friendly: Kids can burn energy at CN Family Zone, giant inflatables and beginner-friendly skating loop; most zones are free and supervised, yet cold nights and crowds mean parents must bundle and watch closely.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Allows time to walk light installations, try skating loop and play at the CN Family Zone at a relaxed pace.
Lumino Light Installations:
Walk among 30+ illuminated art pieces across Quartier des Spectacles.
Tip: Arrive at dusk to see lights activate. Strollers fit on wide pathways.
CN Family Zone:
Engage kids in hockey challenges, locomotive games and story time.
Tip: Visit early evening to avoid crowds and grab a seat for story time.
Loto-Québec Skating Loop:
Glide on an LED-lit raised rink with safe railings.
Tip: Rent skates and helmets at the Tim Hortons chalet. Use skate aids for younger kids.
Giant Inflatable Games:
Bounce on oversized obstacle courses at Place des Festivals.
Tip: Dress children in warm layers and secure nonslip socks under boots.
La Grande Roue de Montréal:
Ride in climate-controlled Ferris wheel cabins for city views at night.
Tip: Book tickets online to skip the line. Under-4s ride free with parents.
Joanie’s Safari Birds-of-Prey Demo:
Meet owls and hawks and get hands-on with guided photo ops.
Tip: Go early in the evening when sessions start to ensure a spot close to the front.

It was amazing, so much variety and entertainment, if it weren't for the chilly weather would have stayed longer and seen more, no pics but place des arts beautiful and cozy

Fun activities. We enjoyed our time there even it was a very cold night. The skating rinks are a must try! The Ferris wheel is a bit too fast for me, but I made it!

Paid parking available right in front of the Skating loop. The ferris wheel is for free. Just stand in the line for 15 minutes. Ice skating loop is for free. Get your ice skates to avoid the queue. Better to avoid evening time to avoid the full crowd. You can also get the ice skates for rental. It is crowdy but it's so much fun... You have a Cabane à sucre for the maple syrup candy on snow. Wear rubber boots if possible, very slushy, dress warm if going on ferris wheel, it can get cold on top, be prepared for long line ups. Variety of installations to suit all ages, easly spend 2 hours there. Live DJ with music that's actually good! We had fun.

Quite a few activities and interesting pieces. Vibe was great. Music selection created a nice mood. Personal favourite was the ferris wheel, which went around 4 or 5 times & it was free to ride it.
Montreal en Lumière takes place in late winter. Dress in waterproof boots and thermal layers. Warm up with hot chocolate at food stalls.
