Positives:

  • Official Olympic venue: This is Canada’s designated speed-skating training centre since 1988.
  • Year-round ice and track: Indoor conditions stay consistent, letting you skate or run regardless of weather.

Challenges:

  • Peak-hour crowds: Evenings, weekends, and holiday periods can fill the ice and track quickly.
  • Mandatory helmet policy: All skaters must wear a helmet. Rentals can sell out during busy sessions.

Very busy during free use hours! Ice was a little marked up but a great time for free skating and family.

Runners and Track: Very nice track! There's two lanes that go all the way around the rink so its a bit tight if youre trying to go past people, but most runners on the track know how it works so its very smooth! Love the skating rink in the middle too! Overall nice facilities and well upkept!

It's a fun venue, everything is fairly basic for seating and amenities, but a great place to watch world class speed skating. Our Norwegian friend who was on their team 40 years ago organized a small group of us to watch the recent world cup competition, and that was entertaining. After an event, this is quite close to the University district, and many restaurants.

Amazing facility. We were watching the Canadian Longtrack speed skating competition which was precision and harmony on ice at an unbelievable speed. The Mass start competition was an incredible chess match over 16 laps on ice with a pace starting at medium slow and exploding into what seemed to be the fastest humans on ice. You must attend the next competition in November. Athletes and coaches w...

Monday night: $2 entry + $7 gear rental Other days: $7 entry + $7 gear rental (Non-students can enter) The skating shoes renting here hurt ankle’s skin badly. I have seen from lots of my friends. Getting a pair of skating shoes from decathlon only cost $40 so I prefer having my own pair. It’s a standard ice skating rink used back in Olympic games! The experience of skating here is amazing!
