What makes it 88% Kids-Friendly: The natural playground, pump track, ball diamonds and gentle sled hills keep 3-12s busy for hours; free parking and toilets help parents, yet no lifeguards or staff mean adults must supervise.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: You can explore the playground, pump track, and ball fields without tiring young kids.
Natural Playground Adventures:
Climb the Voyageur canoe, scramble on timber steppers, splash at the sand water pump, and slide down the 4.5 m slide.
Tip: Bring towels and a change of clothes; the water pump can drench younger kids.
Pump-Track Cycling:
Ride the asphalt pump track’s beginner or junior loops for age-appropriate thrills.
Tip: Bring bikes with knobby tires and helmets; arrive early to secure a spot.
Ball Games on Baseball Diamonds:
Organize catch, kick-ball, or soccer games on the open diamonds.
Tip: Pack your own ball and mitt; pick a weekday afternoon for fewer teams.
Tobogganing on Gentle Hills:
Slide down the manicured slopes west of 10 St NW with family sleds.
Tip: Choose smaller hills for first-time sliders and watch for icy patches.
Holiday Lights Walk:
Stroll the Lions Festival of Lights displays on the golf course in winter.
Tip: Dress in warm layers and bring a thermos of hot chocolate.

This is one of the most beautiful city parks I have ever seen. Amazing paved trails, beautiful bridges and water ways. Baseball diamonds, playgrounds for children, areas to BBQ, the tunnel was fun and the grass perfectly kept. We didn't even scratch the surface. We will definitely be back.

This is such a lovely park. So many places to stop and sit or have a picnic. There were lots of families but it is so huge everyone had lots of space. Trails were all paved so great for bikes, rollerblading and strollers. We were staying near the university and we will definitely be going back for a lovely nature walk.

Returning to Confederation Park after decades. I grew up backing onto the park. Tons of childhood memories there. Trees have grown a lot since my childhood years in the '60s and '70s. I remember its grand opening in 1967. Great park for walking, biking, relaxing whatever....

Beautiful park with lots of wildlife and paths to walk, run or bike. Well maintained in the winter with constant snow/ice removal from the paths. Lots of benches and picnic tables with fire pits. Highly recommended to visit all year round
Summer mornings are best for cooler playground and pump-track fun. Late fall to early winter brings free light displays on the golf course. Winter offers tobogganing on gentle hills; spring can be muddy—wear boots.
