Hotel Montanus (couple trip)

This is my second visit in the past few years. I stayed in the bottom level garden view room which was a little damp. I recommend going up a level. It was only a 2 night stay, so I can't comment to much on the service. I ate breakfast down the street at Books & Brunch(now permanently closed :( ) but the hotel breakfast looked good if you just want to spend some more and have the convenience....

Lovely hotel. Very central location and I recommend eating at the restaurant (friendly staff and refined dishes for a reasonable price). The breakfast buffet had some great products (cereal, different breads and spreads, fruit, coffee, a station where you could ask for any type of egg dish or pancakes,... Fake 4*, more likely bad 3. Rooms are dusty, service is horrible. I asked for a room with a single bad for 2 and got 2 individual beds that can be completely separated. Beds are not comfortable and bedsheets are 10 years old, room is outdated and full of dust. Proposing parking for crazy money while there is a covered parking twice cheaper than theirs just in front. Overall moved forward with them...

All in all it was fine. The main house is really nice, but we stayed in the annex. Nice linen and very comfy beds, but the walls are very thin and you hear a lot of your neighbours. Parking on site is 25€ per night, recommend to stay at the almost half price public parking a few hundred metres away instead.

I give this place a 1 star overall. And I'll explain why. Firstly, my partner and I got there as early as we expected, told the bloke at the counter to which he replied,' Your room will be ready at 3pm' as we expected, so we went on a walk for a few hours to get to grips with the area as we were visiting for the Christmas fair.
